David Scarpelli is the Leadership Institute’s Regional Field Coordinator for Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana. Previously, David worked as a Field Representative in Colorado and Wisconsin. He interned for the Youth Leadership School before taking the Regional Field Coordinator position.
He was born on Long Island New York, but was raised in Williamsport Pennsylvania, where his parents owned an Italian restaurant. After highschool, David joined the PA Army National Guard, and served as an 11-B Infantryman in a mechanized infantry unit, B co. 3/103rd. He deployed to Afghanistan from 2007-2008 as the security force for the Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in the Kunar Province, as a part of Campaign Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).
After the deployment, he attended Blue Ridge Bible College in Rocky Mount Virginia, where he obtained an Associate's degree in Theology. David then attended Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. It was at LHU where he became active in conservative politics and campus activism after working closely with a sociology professor. There he founded and led both a Young Americans for Liberty chapter and a sociology club, which would later propel him into the conservative movement.
While attending college, he also led a Full Gospel Fellowship Bible study club, served as a Scholarship Director and Community Service Chair at Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, and served as a Delegate at the LHU Inter-Fraternal Council. David has experience as a painter, landscaper, assistant property manager, and lumberjack. In his free time, he likes to read, cook, travel, play guitar, and socialize.
