Matthew Hurtt is a nationally-recognized activist, organizer, writer, and public speaker.
He previously served as State Director for Americans for Prosperity - Louisiana and as Director of External Relationships for Americans for Prosperity Foundation's Grassroots Leadership Academy, where he organized activists across the country around policies that promote prosperity and opportunity.
Before his time with AFP/F, Hurtt helped raise millions of dollars for conservatives as a copywriter for Response America, a direct mail fundraising firm in Alexandria. Before that, Matthew managed the campaign of then-State Senator Alex X. Mooney.
In 2009, Matthew joined the Leadership Institute staff as a Regional Field Coordinator, where he identified, recruited, and trained university students in Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and his home state of Tennessee. He also began teaching grassroots activists how to organize for the conservative candidate or cause of their choice. Since 2009, he has trained thousands of activists at LI headquarters in Arlington and across the country.
Matthew is the former Chairman of the Arlington Falls Church Young Republicans, one of the country's largest Young Republican clubs. He was a Ron Paul-supporting, Mitt Romney-bound delegate from Virginia to the Republican National Convention in 2012. Hurtt also served as an at-large delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
He has been published in several outlets and has appeared on local, national, and even international television and radio as a pro-liberty activist. Matthew traded the Swamp for the Bayou at the height of the pandemic, moving to New Orleans for a brief time. He resides once again in Arlington, Virginia.
